Former principal's assistant and school secretary at Lincoln Grace Kerrigan was on hand to volunteer, as she has done ever year for this Jump Rope for your Heart event. From left to right: Tim Kerrigan, student Alexa Martins with a rubber chicken, and Grace Kerrigan.

The lights were eventually turned off but the glow sticks were bright, shining on the arms, heads and necks of almost 100 kids, who were dancing and jumping rope and having a ball at their elementary school on a Friday night - all for a good cause.

About 90 students from Lincoln School, an elementary school serving Caldwell and West Caldwell New Jersey, raised money for the American Heart Association on Friday night, as they do every year.

This Jump Rope for Heart event is in its 14th year at the Lincoln School, and kids today are as excited as they were almost a decade ago to get together on a Friday night and jump rope, play games and dance to popular songs - all under the supervision of teachers and the nurse who sacrifice their Friday night to help support this worthy cause.

In total, about $50,000 has been raised over the past 14 years by families and staff of Lincoln School.

Kudos to this giving school, staff and all the families who pledged money in honor of their children's efforts.
