The Montclair Public Library Foundation is thrilled to announce it has received a grant from The Montclair Foundation in support of its Open Book/Open Mind (OBOM) conversation series. This grant allows the series to continue to provide illuminating and educational programming free of charge to the Montclair community and beyond.

The Montclair Foundation’s grant program is intended to support a broad range of activities and organizations that contribute to the quality of life in Montclair and its environs. “We are honored that The Montclair Foundation believes in the mission and impact of the series to the Montclair community,” says MPL Library Director, Peter Coyl.

Open Book/Open Mind is a series of interactive conversations featuring authors and thinkers on important issues of our time. OBOM has presented 30 conversations since its inception in January 2015 with over 4,600 attendees. In the first half of 2018, six conversations have taken place with topics ranging from crafting fiction to closing the gender gap. Four conversations are already on the books for fall including author Tayari Jones discussing her best-selling novel “An American Marriage.”

Past guests have included Bobbi Brown, Jacqueline Woodson, Christina Baker Kline, Maureen Dowd, Lawrence O’Donnell, Isabel Allende, Dale Russakoff, Anna Quindlen, Charles Blow, Alan Cumming, and Jonathan Alter.
