Pedestrian Killed after Being Struck by NJ Transit Train

A pedestrian was struck and killed today at the Newark Broad Street station at about 7:45 AM today.

The man was standing on the elevated West side of the Broad Street platform, where the NJ Transit train commuters wait to either catch their train or switch to their local trains during their commute either to or. from New York City or Hoboken.

As of now, no details or the victim's name have been shared. It is unclear which train the victim was trying to board.

The fatal event caused delays for the Morris/Essex and Montclair-Boonton lines in both directions.

The police are investigating and updates will follow.
