Growing older and living longer is creating a powerful new lifestyle for many seniors. Here in our area, Crane's Mill offers both independent and assisted housing; a swimming pool; daily classes; events and a popular bar with a happy hour.

Now, with living well in mind, a new chef has joined the facility.

Chef Arthur Marston has been named new Executive Chef of Crane’s Mill, a continuing care retirement community in West Caldwell, NJ.

A Certified Executive Chef and Certified Culinary Administrator by the American Culinary Federation, Chef Arthur brings with him a wide range of experience and a fresh outlook on menu creation.

“I’m thrilled to join the team here at Crane’s Mill. It’s a premier property in the industry,” says Marston, who resides in Pompton Lakes with his wife, Aimee, and their two-year-old son, Noah.

“My goal for the Crane’s Mill menu is a balance of home style comfort food and modern haute cuisine,” explains Marston. “We’ll achieve this through fresh, local products and produce that are delicious, healthful, and sustainable.”

Execution is key, and Chef Arthur is a natural mentor. “I enjoy coaching and training my staff on proper technique, honing their skills, and bringing their abilities to the forefront so they may execute each dish the proper way.”

The result translates to a better end product for the residents. “When a meal is prepared and presented properly, the resident can both see and taste the difference. The cook can then use those learned skills and apply them to the next dish, therefore creating a better, more well-rounded staff that consistently produces high quality finished plates for our residents.”

Crane’s Mill is a continuing care retirement community located on 48 acres in West Caldwell, New Jersey.
