Arrest

On 08-25-2014, at 0243Hrs Officers were dispatched to the area of North Mountain Avenue at Berkley Place on a report of suspicious males. An off-duty Officer had observed these two subjects hiding behind a tree as he drove past. Officers located these suspects, Justin Chase (24yoa from West Orange) and Lance Ogunwale (24yoa from West Orange) on Watchung Avenue. They were found to be in possession of a GPS unit that had just been stolen from a vehicle on North Mountain Avenue. These subjects were arrested and charged with Burglary.

Theft From Vehicles

On 08-18-2014, an Alden Road resident reported a theft from their vehicle. The victim stated that between 2130Hrs on 08/17 and 0430Hrs on 08/18, someone had entered their Nissan Quest and stolen a red REI backpack containing $200 in cash and a Gameboy. On 08-18-2014, a Pine Street resident reported a theft from their vehicle. The victim stated that between 2200Hrs on 08/17 and 0630Hrs on 08/18, someone had entered their Acura MDX and stolen three pairs of Prada sunglasses. On 08-20-2014, an Oak Place resident reported a theft from their vehicle. The victim stated that at 2118Hrs on 08/20 he left his white iPhone 5c charging in his Hyundai. He returned to the vehicle approximately 5 minutes later and noticed the cellphone and its charger missing. Anyone with information is asked to contact our Juvenile Aid Bureau at 973-509-4751.

Theft

On 08-24-2014, at 1722Hrs officers responded to North Willow Street on a report of two stolen bicycles. The bicycles are described as an electric blue Huffy Brand women’s bike and a grey and black Specialized Brand men’s bike. These bicycles were taken from the back yard of a private residence. Suspects are described as a light skinned black male with a thin build and a black male with a heavy build. Anyone with information is asked to contact our Juvenile Aid Bureau at 973-509-4751.

Burglary

On 08-19-2014, a Park Street resident, in the area of Watchung Plaza, reported that he was the victim of a burglary to his garage. The victim stated that between 0900Hrs and 1600Hrs, on 8/8, some one had entered his open garage and stolen his black Electra Beach Cruiser bicycle. On 08-20-2014, a burglary occurred at Dunkin Donuts, 1 Lackawanna Plaza. Management reported that between 2230Hrs on 8/19 and 0500Hrs on 8/20, unknown person(s) had entered the store and stolen their cash box. This cash box contained over $1,200 in cash. On 08-20-2014, an Orange Road resident reported a burglary to their 1st floor apartment. The victim stated that overnight between 8/18 and 8/19 unknown person(s) cut the window screens to their apartment and entered through a first floor window. Taken in this incident were a $20 bill, a pack of bus passes, and a pack of cigarettes. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective C. Cunningham at 973-509-4716.

Miscellaneous

On 08-23-2014, at 2321Hrs, Officers were dispatched to a report of damage to the bus shelter at Bloomfield Avenue and Gates Avenue. A passerby reported that a group had been involved in a physical altercation in the bus stop, resulting in a shattered glass panel. MFD responded and removed the hazard, clearing up the shattered glass.
