Three Montclair teens who took their message to the nation, via radio, television and both print and online media, have created enough of a stir to help change national politics. For the first time in U.S. history since 1992 , a woman will be one of the moderators for the presidential debate.
Emma Axelrod, Sammi Siegel, and Elena Tsemberis have rallied more than 130,000 via their Change.org petitions calling for a woman to moderate one of three upcoming presidential debates between President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. No woman has moderated a U.S. presidential debate since 1992.
Emma, Elena and Sammi delivered their petitions directly to the Commission on Presidential Debates, as well as the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee on Tuesday, July 31.
CNN's Candy Crowley will moderate a presidential debate, which is one of 3 debates scheduled for the Fall election. The other two debates will be moderated by men:PBS's Jim Lehrer and Bob Schieffer from CBS News.
Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. will be scene for the 2nd of the 3 debates, on October 16. Crowley will be the moderator for this debate.
This debate will offer the public - chosen by the national Gallup Organization - to ask questions of each candidate.
