Keep This Handy - Print in Case of Power Outage
If the storm hits - with high winds and possible flooding - you need to be prepared and ready so that you and your family will remain safe. Here are some simple emergency preparedness steps you should take, in case of power outages occurring or flooding.
Also, towns have shared their information for their own emergency procedures.
As soon as possible, do a check around the outside of your home. If there is anything loose that can fly away - even heavy items such as tables - either stow them away indoors, in your garage or shed, or tie them with plenty of rope/bungee cords.
Pack a few blankets and emergency preparedness kit in your car (see info, below). Also, be sure you have a full tank of gas!
Family Planning: Many family members are scattered. Choose one or two phone numbers and/or places to meet up after a disaster. This way, you can be sure to find your loved ones. Your power may be out - so choose someone out of the area.

Recommended Items To Include In A Basic Emergency Supply Kit:
Water, one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation
Food, at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food
Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert and extra batteries for both
Flashlight and extra batteries
First aid kit
Whistle to signal for help
Dust mask, to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place
Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation
Keep on Hand:
Flashlight and batteries.
Food (non-perishable)
First Aid Kit
Medicines you may need (keep your first aid kit ready)
PETS DURING THE DISASTER
Animals brought to a pet shelter are required to have: Proper identification collar and rabies tag, proper identification on all belongings, a carrier or cage, a leash, an ample supply of food, water and food bowls, any necessary medications, specific care instructions and news papers or trash bags for clean-up.
Bring pets indoor well in advance of a storm - reassure them and remain calm.
Pet shelters will be filled on first come, first served basis. Call ahead and determine availability.
