Singer Songwriter Laura Birdsong Celebrates Life with a Musical collaboration

TIERNEY’S TAVERN – FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2012

Singer/songwriter, Laura Birdsong, will be performing with some of New Jersey’s best musicians upstairs at Tierney’s Tavern (136-138 Valley Road, Montclair, NJ 07042) on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 9:30 p.m. The night will be an “acoustic ~ electric ~ eclectic” celebration of life, abundance and gratitude featuring original music and tasty folk-rock and Americana covers.

Although she has been writing and performing since her early teens, Birdsong (a/k/a Bernstein) describes herself as a late bloomer who is grateful to have had the chance to fulfill her musical dreams. She is a four year breast cancer survivor who is thankful to be celebrating the milestone of her 60th birthday. A lover of nature and animals, she adopted her last name from the joy she experiences waking up to the cacophony of wild birds outside her window. As a former resident of Montclair, NJ, Birdsong made lasting musical connections and continues to appear locally. She currently makes her home in the mountains of Highland Lakes, NJ. Laura’s CD, Crazy Wisdom is available on CD Baby http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/laurabirdsong. Her next CD will be coming soon…

Laura will open the show with an acoustic set by “LBI” (Laura, Bru and Ilsa) with the help of Ilsa Rodriguez, hostess of Tierney’s famous and long running Thursday open mic, and the ubiquitous Bru Rossman. Next will be a showcase by “TRIO” a delightful working acoustic band performing in New Jersey and the Hudson Valley region of New York, in which Laura is joined by Delaynie Cusick and Steve Vecchiotti. The night will end with electricity with the ever evolving “Birdsong Project.” Well known locals, Mike Ferrara, Billy Karcher, Gerry Griffin, Orlando Staton and Miguel Rodriguez will add to the mix.

Dynamically, the show will span the gamut from unplugged to full rock band. This promises to be a harmonious night to remember.
