Nutley is one of the top - if not THE top - supporters for Relay for Life. As we come out of our Pandemic cocoons, why not join this might effort to help those with cancer?

The American Cancer Society (ACS) reports that "1.9 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed. And more than 600,000 people will die from cancer."  But due to the Pandemic, with so many dying from COVID-19 and also a backlog of reporting of cancer cases and deaths, the  ACS reports "These numbers do not account for the effect the COVID-19 pandemic has likely had on cancer diagnoses and deaths because they are projections based on reported cases and deaths through 2017 and 2018, respectively. More details about COVID-19 and its impact on cancer is available in the Cancer Facts & Figures report’s  Special Section: COVID-19 and Cancer."

As we continue to evolve with the changing times, there is one thing that will remain the same- we will never stop fighting for a cure! Mayor Mauro G. Tucci and the Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation have celebrated hope for the last 14 years and our 15th Annual Relay For Life will remind our community we will never give up hope.

In order to comply with state guidelines, we have planned an intimate Relay For Life walk through Memorial Park I (Mud Hole) located on the corner of Vreeland Ave and Passaic Ave in Nutley. This event is scheduled for Friday, May 21, 2021, and will be held from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Although this event will look a little different for 2021 the impact it will have on those that we remember and fight for remains the same.

Pre-Registration is required for this event. Please log onto RelayForLife.org/NutleyNJ to register, and join us for Nutley’s 15th year supporting the American Cancer Society for continued research for a cure. All registered participants will enter at the corner of Vreeland Ave and Passaic Ave. It is mandatory that participants wear a mask throughout the event. Nutley Relay masks will be available for registered participants. The evening will be filled with Hope & also remembrance for all those affected by cancer as participants socially distance walk the pathway filled will luminaria bags along with several special features such as purple lights, passing the Hope area, and special appearances from the Purple Toilet and Hope Bear.
