Where I grew up, surrounded by so many Italian families, I was known as a champion pear and apple tree climber. My grandfather, Dominic, was a man of few words but knew his way around every herb, mushroom, rabbit and fruit or vegetable, so climbing up to pick the best apples and pears was my job. Every year, I would shimmy up those beautiful trees and have some fun throwing the best of them down at my grandfather.

My grandmother was always making fresh pasta or something from her garden, and even. Back then she always told me to “eat an apple a day”. Today, even if I can’t get to my apple, the health benefits of apple cider vinegar are well known and offer a simple way to pack a healthy bunch every morning before I leave for work.

When I first saw my bottle of Sonoma Syrup Organic Apple Cider Infused Vinegar – with lemon and vanilla - it took me back to Providence and my childhood. But make no mistake: this is not the hard-to-stomach typical apple cider vinegar you may have tried – and given up on.

Unlike other apple cider vinegars I have tried, which are always tough to take, this raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized and gluten free version is made palatable by the intensely delicious organic California Meyer lemons and vanilla added in every bottle. As a detoxifying daily shot of nature, this is the real deal. I added it to some sparkling water, added a slice of lemon and a teaspoon of raw, unfiltered honey (my favorite is Local Hive). Another great way to use Sonoma Syrup Co. Organic Apple Cider Infused Drinking Vinegar is to add it to your salad dressing (recipe below).

Apple Cider Vinegar is touted for so many benefits.
1.A major component of apple cider vinegar is Acetic Acid, a naturally occurring acid used often for medical issues including ear infections and others problems.
2.Apple Cider Vinegar has been reported to be beneficial for Diabetics, since it improves insulin sensitivity and even after a fairly high carb meal, has been shown to decrease blood sugar (but check with your doctor). One study showed that 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar reduces fasting blood sugars by up to 4 percent.
3.A study done at Harvard University reports women has decreased issues of heart disease by using oil and vinegar salad dressing made from Apple Cider Vinegar.
4.Your stomach will benefit from the alkaline environment created by Apple Cider Vinegar. Although this cider is acidic, it promotes an alkaline environment in your body and can be helpful in fighting viruses and bacteria, which are unable to thrive in an alkaline environment.
