The Friends of the West Caldwell Public Library will present a slide-lecture titled "The Monomonock Inn" featuring local historian James Gardner on Thursday, November 8 at 6:30 pm in the Community Room of the West Caldwell Public Library, 30 Clinton Road.

A showcase resort in Caldwell, NJ, the Monomonock Inn opened in 1902 and was occupied through 1940. It hosted wealthy vacationers every year from April through October and was considered the "essence of grandeur." Some of the outstanding features of the Inn were the beautifully landscaped gardens, tennis courts, golf course and ornately furnished rooms. Gardener will discuss the history of this grand resort and some of the famous guests who vacationed there over the years.

Prior to the program, the Friends of the Library will conduct a brief Annual Membership meeting to elect new officers and to present the budget for 2019.

This program is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. To sign-up, call the Library at 973-226-5441 or sign-up online at http://tinyurl.com/WCPL-Events.
