The West Caldwell Public Library, 30 Clinton Road, will continue its Adult Summer Reading Club with a book discussion of the New York Times bestseller "The Zookeeper's Wife" by Diane Ackerman on Tuesday, July 25 at 6:30 pm in the Community Room.

This compelling true story focuses on the Polish zookeepers (Jan & Antonina Zabinski) who smuggled hundreds of Jews into empty zoo cages and the basement of their villa as the Nazis invaded Poland during WWII. After dark, the hidden guests emerged for dinner, socializing, and occasional piano concerts and the surviving zoo animals were also cared for. A moving story about the lives of the zoo animals, their keepers and their hidden visitors who escaped annihilation.

Sue Callaghan, Chair of the English Dept. at James Caldwell High School, will lead this book discussion and light refreshments will be served. Registration is required and you can sign-up by calling the library at 973-226-5441 or sign-up online at http://tinyurl.com/WCPL-Events. Copies of the book are available at the Reference Desk in the library.
