On Saturday, October 13th, supporters of those affected by Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) will gather at Central Park of Morris County, in Parsippany/Morris Plains, New Jersey, for Strides for CJD, a 5K cross-country run and 2.5K walk. The race will begin at 10:00 am and be held on a cross-country trail. The event, featuring raffles, a corn-hole tournament, face painting, and other activities, will allow families to pay tribute to their loved ones and raise awareness of CJD, a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure.

More than 2,000 people around the U.S. are expected to participate, including hundreds in New Jersey, and the funds raised will provide vital assistance for the organization’s family support, medical education, and research programs.

Strides for CJD events will also be held in Atlanta; Beverly Hills; Boston; Charleston, West Virginia; Chicago; Cleveland; Denver; Joppatowne, Maryland; Minneapolis; Pittsburgh; Scottsdale, Arizona; Seattle; and Wausau, Wisconsin. In addition, many will participate as individuals and small groups across the country and will post pictures on social media with hashtags #CureCJD and #Strides4CJD to raise awareness of the disease.
