PSE&G is reporting about 43,000 customers without power due to the strong winds and heavy rain that are sweeping through its service area. The state’s largest utility serves 2.2 million electric customers.

“PSE&G will have additional personnel working through the night to assess any damage from the storm and make repairs,” said John Latka, PSE&G senior vice president of electric and gas operations. “The safety of our employees and the public is critical. Customers should rest assured that we have 6,000 utility employees, including damage assessors, tree trimmers and support personnel, prepared to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.” Latka added that crews can only safely work in bucket trucks when winds are below 40 miles per hour.

PSE&G encourages customers to report downed wires and power outages by logging in to My Account on www.pseg.com, texting the word “OUT” to 4PSEG, or calling PSE&G’s Customer Service line at 1-800-436-PSEG.

The utility offers customers a number of ways to stay in touch and informed before, during and after a storm. These tools can be found at PSE&G’s mobile-friendly website www.pseg.com in the “Storm Center.” Updated every 15 minutes, PSE&G’s mobile-friendly “Outage Map” displays the location and status of power outages.
