*******Fraud – Headquarters received a report regarding fraudulent charges to the victim’s store credit card. There were two charges for approximately $900.00 in total. The victim believes that the individual who made the charges has a fake ID with their name on it and was able to give their social security number since that is the policy of the store if there is no credit card available. Investigation remains open.

******Fraud – Officers met with a victim who stated that when their two cars were stolen their check book was inside one of the vehicles and this week they noticed money missing from their bank account. Upon looking further into their account there were three checks cashed in the amounts of $485.00, $585.00 and $635.00 that the victim did not write. They were cashed at a JP Morgan bank located in Newark and signed by an unknown individual. The financial institution was notified and will be conducting an investigation.

******Fraud – A report of fraud was received at Headquarters. The victim stated that they wrote a check for Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp. and mailed it. When contacting their bank, they were advised that the check was fraudulently re-written for $300.00 to an unknown party. The bank representative closed the account and advised the victim to make a Police report.

********Suspicious Incident – Officers were dispatched to the area regarding a suspicious incident. Upon arrival they observed a package propping the doorway open to an apartment. Units checked the residence for anyone on the premises with negative results. The door did not appear to have any signs of forced entry, and was deemed an oversight. The homeowner was contacted and advised of the situation. The apartment was secured and Officers cleared the scene.

*********Fraud/Theft – Headquarters received a walk in report of a fraud. The victim stated that they mailed a check at the Post Office and when they received the check copy they noticed the name was changed and cashed for $1700 at a different financial institution.

********Motor Vehicle Stop – Park Avenue – Officers initiated a motor vehicle stop, which found the driver to be operating their vehicle while suspended, and two outstanding warrants out of Jersey City and Elmwood Park. Andrea Wasacz, 23, of Lodi, was placed under arrest, transported to Headquarters without incident, able to post the appropriate bail, and advised to contact both Municipal Courts for new Court dates. Ms. Wasacz was issued motor vehicle summonses for: Driving While Suspended and Maintenance of Lamps before her release.

*******Illegal Dumping – Hillside Avenue – Officers responded to the area and met with the building manager who stated that an unknown actor/s dumped garbage, consisting of empty suitcases, empty boxes, and miscellaneous electronics, at the curb in front of the building. It is believed that the items were put there some time during the evening hours. The building manager was advised that if they were able to identify the actor/s, they can sign a complaint with the Nutley Municipal Court.

*****Suspicious Incident – Passaic Avenue – The homeowner told Police that they left a package on their porch for a local charity to retrieve. At approximately 11:45 am their motion detector alerted them that someone was at the front door. The victim opened the door to speak with the representative from the charity but it turned out to be an unknown party stating “delivery?” and the victim responded “No, it is not a delivery.” The male quickly turned away towards a newer model black Toyota Camry and entered the passenger side. The vehicle left the area traveling north. The man was described as having light brown skin, approximately 5'10", wearing a tan jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans. There was no description of the driver. The victim was advised to contact Nutley Police if there is any further information.

*******Motor Vehicle Stop – Kingsland Avenue – Officers initiated a motor vehicle stop which resulted in the arrest of Marissa Grant, 28, of Bloomfield, who was transported to Headquarters without incident. She was processed, issued summonses for Possession of Hypodermic Needles, Drug Paraphernalia and released. The items confiscated were placed into evidence.
