Montclair Public Library is Fit for Reading Challenge

Posted

Montclair is leading the way in the first Winter Reading Challenge. Our 235 readers — ranging in age from 3 to 88 — have read 841 books and 11,158 minutes,” says Library Director Peter Coyl. “Because this exceeds our original goal of reading 600 books and 2,500 minutes during January, we are eligible for a $10,000 grant from Beanstack, a software platform that promotes reading.”

“I knew Montclair would rise to this challenge,” continues Coyl, “but I didn’t realize we would get it done by the half-way point!”

If all the more than 90 libraries participating in the challenge meet their goals of reading at least 1.3 million minutes and 55,000 books in January, entrepreneur Mark Cuban will donate $25,000 to First Book, a nonpro t that provides new books to children in need.
