Arrest:

11-24-2017 (Bloomfield Avenue) Mr. Anthony Harper, 27yoa from Newark, was arrested on an open warrant for Burglary. Through investigation, Mr. Harper was identified and charged in connection with a burglary to a residence which occurred on Buckingham Road on 11-17-2017.

11-24-2017 (Central Avenue) Mr. Duane Thornton, 39yoa from Montclair, was arrested and charged with DWI.

11-24-2017 (Glenridge Avenue) Mr. Robert Wigfall, 34yoa from East Orange, was arrested on an open warrant out of Hazlet totaling $1000.

Burglary/Theft:

11-25-2017 (Glenridge Avenue) Theft of sneakers from the overhead storage area of a transit bus.

11-25-2017 (Upper Mountain Avenue) Burglary to a residence. Camera equipment was taken in this incident. Entry was made through an unlocked rear door.

11-26-2017 (Lorraine Avenue) Theft of delivered package from the front porch of a residence.

Miscellaneous:

11-21-2017 (Pine Street) A parked vehicles tire was purposely damaged with a nail.

11-22-2017 (Valley Road) A vehicle owner observed a female repeatedly kicking her vehicle, resulting in a broken tail light.

11-26-2017 (Virginia Avenue) Officers recovered a BMW which had been reported stolen out of Paterson on 11-19-2017. This vehicle was parked and unoccupied.

Montclair Police Department reminds all residents to lock their vehicles while unattended.  We also advise against storing valuables in the passenger compartment of vehicles.  We have been experiencing thefts from motor vehicles across the township.  In almost every reported incident, the vehicle targeted had been left unlocked. Also, with the holiday season approaching, residents are urged not to store presents and gifts in their vehicles.  Please contact the Police Department immediately should you observe anything unusual.
