Montclair Fire Investigation Underway

The Montclair Fire Department responded to call yesterday afternoon reporting smoke emanating from a house on Elmwood Avenue. Fire units arrive to find smoke and fire coming from the second floor.

All residents evacuated the buidling prior to the arrival of fire personnel. The fire was under control in less than an hour.

The fire caused extensive heat, smoke and water damage to the second and third floors and water damage to the first floor and basement. The West Orange fire department helped Montclair units at the scene, while Clifton, Bloomfield and East Orange fire departments covered the town.

No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
