Food historian and tea specialist Judith Krall-Russo will present a lecture titled "Life as a Domestic Servant" on Sunday, September 24 at 2:00 pm in the Community Room of the West Caldwell Public Library, 30 Clinton Road.
In the Victorian and Edwardian eras, domestic servants represented a large majority of jobs available for the working class. Learn about a servant's day, which started from early morning and lasted late into the night. What was a typical servant's meal like? What type of clothes did they wear? How did they entertain themselves? And what happened when other job opportunities opened up for the working class?
