Celebrate the joyous holidays as the New Jersey Choral Society presents “Season of Light,” a concert of festive music, traditional carols and poetry inspired by the season. This concert will be presented on Saturday, December 7 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, December 8 at 3:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Church, 30 North Fullerton Ave., Montclair.

The festive program features a German rendition of J.S. Bach’s "Break Forth, O Beauteous Light," the American Folk hymn "My Song in the Night" by Mack Wilberg, "Beyond the Moon and Stars" by Dan Schutte, "Lead, Kindly Light" by Dan Forrest, and Poulenc’s moving "Laudamus Te" from "Gloria."

The program will also feature the NJCS Festival Youth Chorus, under the direction of Noelle Dachis, performing "Stars I Shall Find" by Seth Houston and the inspiring "O Magnum Mysterium" by Ivo Antognini. In honor of their 10th Anniversary, the NJCS Chanteurs, a vocal ensemble conducted by Jill Guartafierro, will perform "Season of Light" by Bruce and Elizabeth Tippette. Broadway veteran actors and NJCS members David and Britt Cryer will recite John Milton’s 17th century poem “Ring Out, Ye Crystal Spheres” and Maya Angelou’s classic Christmas poem “Amazing Peace,” which was first read by Dr. Angelou at the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C. in 2005.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for seniors and students. Special prices are available for patrons with disabilities, children, groups and Families First Discovery Pass holders.
