If you’ve ever been to any event in Montclair, from music at Outpost in the Burbs to Church Street on any given day or night, to non-profit events or any of the amazing things that are always happening in town, then surely you know or will remember Andy Cohen.

For many years, Andy was the photographer who captured not only his subjects but also their spirit. His work was always alive, passionate, engaging and stunning. Along the way, he became a beloved and admired artist and friend to so many people in Montclair and elsewhere.

After valiantly dealing with cancer, supported by his many loyal friends, Andy Cohen passed away last night, Friday February 24. He will be deeply missed.

I always loved seeing Andy in action, and remember the very first time I met him. I was on Church Street, many years ago, and he stopped me as I walked by and asked if he could take my photo. I said yes - and we spoke for a long time about life, art, love and much more. It was an epic conversation - filled with his exquisite humor and sparkling wit.

If you would like to attend a memorial, which is still being planned by his close friend Zara Phillips and others, visit Trends Coffee House on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair on March 11 at 6:00 P.M.
