The Montclair Society of Engineers cordially invites you to a presentation by Mike Paitchell, a MSE member and Clifton resident. With Mike's presentation, we're returning to the world of designing and manufacturing things made of metal. In factories. While Mike has done many things in his career, including programming and circuit design, he is currently designing high-end commercial kitchen equipment and overseeing its manufacture in China.

You'll learn about how many "mid tech" products we use are actually manufactured in Chinese factories. The photos and experiences Mike will share with us will give you a realistic understanding of China's strengths and weaknesses in engineering and manufacturing. You'll also learn about the education of engineers in China, and implications for U.S. students and competition with China. (Mike was a member of the Clifton Board of Education and has important advice for American students and their parents.)

Dessert will be served at 7:30PM. The presentation will begin at 8:00 PM. Children are most welcome. We plan to wrap up by 9:30 PM
