The largest protest in the United States, estimated to be 2.9 million strong, was organized to send a loud protest with a clear message to newly elected President Trump on his very first day in office: Don’t Tread on Me.

Women in Washington D.C. packed the city in much greater numbers than expected, and their sisters in cities and towns across the nation and the world joined symbolic hands and voices with a protest demanding equal rights for all women and all Americans.

The massive numbers of women protesting was historic: In L.A. - 500,000; In New York - 200,000; Chicago - 250,000; Boston - 120,000 and so on.

With Planned Parenthood on the chopping block, since Trump plans to defund it, the women across the country stood together today to vow to protest any actions that would take away their rights to get affordable care in Planned Parenthood clinics, which serve 1 out of 5 women in the U.S.

Also on the minds of millions of protesters today were the President's words and sexist actions towards women, shared with the world last summer when the then president elect talked about grabbing women's genitals.

A global protest akin to a women's revolution happened today, as approximately 2.9 million women marched in D.C., New York, L.A., London, Chicago, and more.

With a worldwide rally fully in swing, millions stood together to protest sexism, nationalism, and divisive language or bullying.

The birth of a movement that was born in Washington D.C. quickly grew to include Europe and other far-flung countries, where women and families took to the streets for peaceful protests.
