Trinity Academy Celebrates 20 Years of Academic Excellence
There's something to celebrate at Trinity Academy, as this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Catholic pre-K through grade 8 school. Trinity Academy was formed in 1991 when the elementary schools of St. Aloysius, Notre Dame and Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament merged. Today, about 370 students attend the pre-school through eighth grade. Trinity Academy, which is regarded as one of the finest schools in the Newark Archdiocese, is located at 235 Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell. The highly regarded Early Childhood Program is offered at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Roseland.
The school's primary mission is to provide students with a challenging academic environment in the Catholic tradition. The school provides its students with a positive learning experience that respects the uniqueness of each child. “Our goal is to encourage the development of the whole child while we prepare our students spiritually, academically and socially with a foundation that will prepare them for the challenges of secondary school, higher education and the work force,” said Principal Dorothy McMahon. “I am in awe of the dedication of our educators, parents and parishes that has resulted in excellence in our classrooms and extracurricular programs.”
Trinity Academy offers small class sizes, a full-day Kindergarten program, and a nurturing environment that allows every child to thrive. Students achieve honors, scholarships and acceptances to prestigious high schools, and consistently score above the national average on the annual standardized Terra Nova tests. Principal McMahon believes that the praise that the graduates of Trinity Academy receive is the true testament to how well prepared students are for high school, college and beyond.
During its 20th year, McMahon says the school continues to integrate 21st-century technology into the school day. She states that every classroom is equipped with a Smart Board, and technology classes are an important part of the curriculum beginning in Kindergarten.
