Three New Officers & 3 Promotions at Montclair Police Department

Three Montclair police officers were promoted and three were sworn in as regular status officers during a swearing-in ceremony held Thursday, February 9 in Municipal Council Chambers.

Officer Matthew Dobrowolski, Christian Dorsey, and Tahron Green were sworn in to regular status.

Robert Romito was sworn in to the rank of Lieutenant, and Edward Czuka and Thomas Westerlund to the rank of Sergeant.

Sgt. Thomas Westerlund worked as a juvenile correctional officer at Jamesburg Correctional Facility prior to becoming a Montclair police officer in 2002. He has been part of the department's Critical Response Team for many years and is a active shooter training instructor. Sgt. Westerlund is also a department firearms instructor.

Sgt. Edward Csuka worked with the Cranford Police Department prior to joining the Montclair police force in 2006. He is currently a department Field Training Officer and, in multiple years, has been the department’s most productive officer in DWI enforcement.

Lt. Robert Romito worked for the Somerset County Sheriff prior to becoming a Montclair Police officer in 1998. He also served as a detective in the Detective Bureau and has been a member of the Critical Response Team for many years. Lieutenant Romito was also instrumental in organizing the highly successfull Police Department-PBA annual Santa visit, which afforded the department an opportunity to partner with the Salvation Army to provide thousands of presents to children in need during the holidays.
