Thank You For Your Service! Free Yoga for Military Memorial Day Weekend

Posted

Memorial Day comes a little earlier than usual this year, and we at Powerflow Yoga are in full celebration mode. In addition to holding special holiday classes, we are inviting all U.S. service men and women to practice with us for free from Saturday, May 23, through Monday, May 25, 2015. We would love to see all of our active, inactive and retired U.S. military yogis on the mat. They have earned this gift of yoga.

We hope yoga benefits their bodies and minds. According to the National Center for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), about 30 percent of people who spent time in war zones experience PTSD with symptoms like depression, insomnia, irritability and difficult concentrating. The fight or flight response can become overactive for those who have served, and life becomes more challenging on a day-to-day basis. Totally safe and effective, yoga gives veterans a healthy approach to PTSD. Studies have show that yoga can alleviate pain, promote good sleep and help bring better self-care management back into their lives.

“I worked with the Veteran’s Yoga Project last spring and saw the positive impact yoga can have on military personnel,” says Brian Lepore, Powerflow Regional Manager. “I am proud the PFY can show our support and appreciation for those who have protected us in the past and those protecting our freedom right now.”

So bring your military man or woman to Powerflow this weekend for complimentary yoga. It’s fun, sweaty, healthy and free!
