Posted

to participate in the county’s 10th Annual Project Homeless Connect (PHC) on Wednesday, January 27 at 9:45 a.m. PHC is a one-day event which provides information, direct and referral services, assistance and hospitality in a convenient one-stop location for people experiencing homelessness that will be held on Wednesday.

In conjunction with PHC, a one-day Point-in-Time (PIT) survey is administered by various agencies and a team of volunteers combing the streets of Bergen County. Last year, 340 people who were homeless were counted; 19% of whom were children.

Highlights of the event at the Center will include one-stop access to information on Medicaid and food stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, SNAP); employment; legal services; HIV counseling; flu shots; dental, blood and glucose screenings. Parisian Beauty Academy of Hackensack will provide free haircuts and manicures. Guest bags with donated gift cards, warm clothing, personal hygiene items, and socks will be distributed to the participants. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will also be graciously donated.

Reporters and photographers are invited to attend the event. To arrange coverage, please contact Michael Pagan at 201-336-6972 or mpagan@co.bergen.nj.us.
