Noon update: February 9 blizzard

PSEG Offers update on storm and power outages

Posted

At this time,(noon) about 172 customers are without power due to the winter storm. PSE&G has restored power to about 4,900 customers since the storm began early this morning. The outages are largely the result of heavy snow taking down trees and power lines. The state’s largest utility serves 2.2 million electric customers.

“Old man winter is not done with us yet,” said John Latka, senior vice president of electric and gas operations. “It is slow going for our crews today. Our main focus is the safety of our employees and the public. Customers should rest assured that we have 6,000 utility employees, including damage assessors, tree trimmers and support personnel, prepared to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.”

PSE&G encourages customers to report downed wires and power outages by logging in to My Account on www.pseg.com, texting the word “OUT” to 4PSEG, or calling PSE&G’s Customer Service line at 1-800-436-PSEG.

The utility offers customers a number of ways to stay in touch and informed before, during and after a storm. These tools can be found at PSE&G’s mobile-friendly website www.pseg.com in the “Storm Center.” Updated every 15 minutes, PSE&G’s mobile-friendly “Outage Map” displays the location and status of power outages.
