The Montclair Township Police Department will host an Operation Take Back New Jersey local collection site in participation with a statewide medicine disposal day to encourage community residents to properly dispose of their unused, unwanted and expired medicine. Collection day is Saturday, September 27, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Police Headquarters, 647 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair. Proper disposal of unwanted medication is intended to help reduce the potential for pharmaceutical abuse.

Operation Take Back New Jersey is a statewide effort spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) New Jersey Division, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, the NY/NJ HIDTA, and the New Jersey National Guard. Last year, the operation collected more than 14,000 pounds of medicine. The majority of New Jersey police departments will be participating again in this year’s event.
