Nutley Police Advisory - Burglary Alert

Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief Thomas Strumolo are advising that we experienced several area burglaries. Police are investigating homes that were entered between Jan 1st and present including Van Winkle, Ohlson, Centre St, St Marys Pl and Conover.

Director Petracco said these homes were entered from either a broken or an unlocked window while the occupants were out.

Chief Strumolo said we experienced two diversion burglaries in which the residents were home and distracted while an accomplice entered their home to commit thefts on Union Ave and Bloomfield Ave.

Residents are reminded to take precautions to safeguard their homes. Secure windows and doors; install lights, in dark areas. Keep home surveillance and alarm systems in proper working condition. Remove all valuables from the master bedroom; do not leave purses, computers etc. in view of unshaded windows.

Do not engage with solicitors without notifying the police, and should you observe anything-suspicious contact police immediately.
