Sunday's are meant for kicking back and enjoying live music, great food and friends.
Sunday Jazz Brunch featuring Meg Beattie Patrick, Charlie Jones, Julian Paul Keenan and Bruce Tyler is on the menu at Trumpets, located in Montclair.
If you haven't caught the fresh sounds of this every talented and experienced group of musicians, you are in for a rare treat.

Meg Beattie Patrick BIO:


Vocalist, songwriter and guitarist, Meg Beattie Patrick, has spent years honing her skills performing varied genres including blues, jazz and indie folk-rock in NYC, New Orleans and Montclair area at many venues including Danny's Skylight, Don't Tell Mama, Trumpets Jazz Club, Tierney's Tavern, Hat City Kitchen, Church Street Summer Music Festival at Montclair Center Stage, and the Montclair Art Museum through the auspices of Parents Who Rock. Meg is an Emeritus Board Member of the Montclair Arts Council and Outpost In The Burbs.

Charlie Jones BIO:


Jazz & blues guitar master and songwriter, Charlie Jones, has been a mainstay of the tri-state club scene since the 1970’s, and has appeared with many top jazz and R&B greats, including: Bettye Lavette, Big John Patton, Illinois Jaquette, Jimmy McGriff, Bernard Purdie, Jesse Morrison, Larry Young, and Lonnie Youngblood. He's performed in the Jimi Hendrix Alumni Band with Randy California, Buddy Miles & Larry Coryell, accompanied singer Tiny Tim and was a cast member on the Uncle Floyd Show, sitting in regularly for guitarist Jimmy Vivino. Charlie also recently performed at the Joni Mitchell Tribute Concert at Carnegie Hall with Bettye LaVette. Charlie Jones has just released his first official CD, "Charlie Jones", on his own Verge Insult Music label. Drawing from his diverse musical influences, the CD features an eclectic mix of styles from rock, pop & blues, to funk, jazz, psychedelic rock, rhythm & blues and soul. Produced by Charlie Jones and Rob Melosh, the CD contains 13 original Charlie Jones' compositions and a cover of "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum. When not playing music, Charlie is an adjunct guitar and Jazz ensemble instructor at New York University. Charlie Jones is in residence at the Great Notch Inn in Little Falls, NJ every other Thursday night at 10 PM.

Julian Paul Keenan BIO:


Julian Paul Keenan is a jazz guitarist and lover of all-things jazz. He has backed Meg Beattie Patrick over the last decade and the two have gigged a a duo from time to time. Julian has released a number of albums in varied genres and enjoys collaborating on projects. In addition to being a top flight musician, Dr. Keenan is a professor of neuroscience at Montclair State University.

Matt Raymond BIO:

Bass player extraordinaire, Matt Raymond, has played with a virtual who's-who of blues music greats including Hubert Sumlin, Steve Guyger, Paul Oscher and Charlie Jones. Matt has also played with American music legends Levon Helm and Bettye LaVette. Matt has held down the chair as house bass player at Dave Gross' Fat Rabbit Studios for several years. What makes Matt a perfect fit for this ensemble is that he's equally adept at both upright and Fender bass.

Bruce "Wildman" Tyler BIO:


A veteran of many New York area jazz, rock and blues venues, Bruce Tyler has performed with some of the tri-state areas most recognizable musicians such as: Ted Curson, Chris White, Jim DeAngelis, Tony Signa, Charlie Jones and many others. He led the band Tayata until its demise. Bruce is the co-founder of the Montclair Blues and Jazz Festival which ran for some 14 years. He has worked with many organizations, including the Montclair African American Heritage Parade and Festival, First Night Montclair, Montclair's Fourth of July Committee, The Montclair Arts Council, Montclair Arts and Cultural Alliance. He is the co-founder of the Montclair Jazz Project; serving as its former interim executive director, he is now involved with the 'Collections and Research Committee. He has received numerous community service awards for his work in community arts. He is currently a member of Black Lace Blues, which he founded. Bruce runs a successful jazz / blues jam at Montclair's DLV Lounge, hosts the open mic at Trend Coffee and Tea House in Montclair, and works as a drum instructor.
