It pays to donate to GOP - and then investigate the boss aka Governor Christie

Take some time to read this book, which was a best seller a few years back.

With many people shaking their heads at the first investigation looking into New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's alleged involvement in the Washington Bridge/Fort Lee closure and traffic chaos, staged due to political revenge, there is news that the law firm hired by the Governor to look into the matter is no stranger to the Republican party.

The firm, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher donated $10,000 to the Republican Governors Association last March.

The filings for this $10,000 donation to Governor Christie's campaign was made public yesterday for the first time.

Paperwork shows clearly the firm that just reported Christie had no knowledge of the Bridgegate affair, donated $10,000 on March 18.

And, it was on March 17, only 9 days after this donation was made, that this same law firm - you guessed it - cleared Governor Christie of any wrongdoing.

This is just another chip in the character of the New Jersey governor, who has claimed he knew nothing about his aides' plan to stop traffic last fall in order to punish the Fort Lee Mayor.

And, this investigation is already a hot topic everywhere, as New Jersey residents are speaking up in public, on television, on the radio, on blogs and here in this paper asking how such an investigation - done by the person accused of a wrongdoing - can be taken seriously in the first place.

With this donation brought out today, the answer is obvious: it can't.

Updates to follow.
