The 69th Annual Glen Ridge Antiques Show will be take place February 6th & 7th, 2015.
One of the nation’s longest running antique shows, the Glen Ridge Antiques Show first opened its doors in 1946 and has since attracted over 1000 people every year. Approximately 30 reputable dealers from PA, MA, DE, NJ, NY, will bring a variety of antiques, appealing to a range of clientele from the traditional to those with a more modern aesthetic.
For the first time ever, guided tours of the historic Glen Ridge Congregational Church will be held on Friday, 2/6 at 1:30pm and 5:pm and on Saturday, 2/7 at 1:30pm. Built in 1904 with a second ground breaking in 1912, the sanctuary is part of a gothic structure featuring several stained glass windows including a large, 9-panel Tiffany stained glass window dedicated in 1912, a chancel embellished with hand-carved wood & sacred paintings and a magnificent pipe organ.
This year’s show welcomes new dealers as well dealers who have been with the show as far back as 1984. The list includes: Debbie Turi Antiques - Debbie joined the show in 2003 and will display a vast assortment of small tables, china and silver pieces, as well as many unique accessories; John Tyler of Colophon Books has been in the show since 1994 carrying an extensive collection of books, maps and metal works; Carol Brown of C.J. Brown Vintage Linens and Textiles will bring a large collection of assorted linens for all occasions; Michael Brailove of Antiques Prints and Paper, new to the show this year, will bring a collection of 17th-20th century architectural, botanical and historical prints, as well as magazine and theatre memorabilia; William Nickerson Antiques of Massachusetts will show a fine array of 18th and 19th century American furniture; Jaffe and Thurston Antiques specializes in 19th and 20th century American & European art including paintings, ceramics and cut glass.
In addition to beautiful antiques, the Glen Ridge Antiques Show is known for serving delicious, freshly prepared meals. Menu items from previous years have included Chicken Salad Sliders served with Homemade Chicken Corn Soup and Frosted Brownie Bites; the Waldorf Astoria’s Famous Homemade Meatloaf, served with Creamy Macaroni & Cheese, Spinach & Strawberry Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing and Oatmeal Cookies; Chicken & Andouille Jambalaya served with a Baton Rouge Sensation Salad and Red Velvet Cupcakes. This year’s menu is still unannounced but will not disappoint. Lunch will served both days; dinner will be served on Friday, February 6th at 6 and 7pm. (Dinner reservations are strongly recommended.) Fresh, homemade baked goods, tea and coffee will be for sale and served in the Pantry Corner during all show hours.
Over 100 local volunteers, organized by more than a dozen chair heads help bring this show together every year. An appraiser will be on hand each day from 1 – 4pm to help attendees unlock the treasures of pieces they own but may know nothing about. There is a nominal fee of $4 per portable item.
