Never believe New Jersey is not as fun, spunky, hip and/or glamorous as those other towns (like Park Slope or the Lower East Side). And do not forget: Montclair is also sexy.

Yesterday, Montclair Center was the site of a feisty, loud, fashionable and surprising fashion show and much more. The evening was made possible by Montclair Center BID.

Luther Flurry, director of Montclair Center BID, said he was thrilled at the turnout and always happy to see such strong support for local merchants.

The show opened with a surprising, sexy ballet-like dance on a giant pole center stage. The women performing were incredibly athletic, toned, graceful and stunning.

Models were decked out not only in fashions from local stores but also in styling designed by locals, such as Franco Porporino, who has his own line of incredible detailed high-end clothing "Francolino"(story soon) and many others such as the talents at Isaiah Hemmingway, and Dem Two Hands (see full list, below.)

Local merchants showed up to remind hundreds of patrons why their special swag bags were really treasure: this is a town with exciting stores, and plenty of charm.

People oohed and ahhed over their gift bags, and no one was briefed ahead of time on the exciting, very cool Cirque Du Soleil inspired show put on once inside.

The DJ was busy spinning dance music, the models, including the pioneer of plus size models on the runway Catherine Schuller, who MC'd, walked proudly, and there were drinks, food and shopping.

A cloudy Sunday in November was once again transformed into a happening scene, and served as a reminder: Small Business Saturday is NEXT WEEKEND.

Kudos to the many volunteers who made this event such a hit, with special shout out to Bangz Salon and Wellness Spa; Montclair Center; Joann Smalls; Wayne Robbins; the models, and the merchants who tirelessly bring their exciting new ideas to Montclair on a daily basis.
