The Caldwell Merchants' Association invites artists, including En Plein Air artists, to participate in Art on the Avenue on Saturday, May 30 from 10am to 5pm. Rain date Sunday, May 31 from 12pm to 5pm. Art on the Avenue is a widely supported community event where strollers along both sides of Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell can view and purchase art.

Artwork will include Fine Art, Sculpture, Photography, Fine Art Crafts, plus a “En Plein Air - Paint the Town” category. A prospectus for artist can be found at the Caldwell Merchant’s website: http://www.caldwellmerchants.com.

Winners are chosen by professional judges. Last year, fifty-eight artists participated and over $1100 in prizes were awarded. While many participants are well known in their fields, Art on the Avenue is open to new artists as well. Fencing is provided for the convenience of artists to hang their work. Participating restaurants and shops will offer specials and live music will be performed on the day of the show.

In conjunction with Art on the Avenue, The Women’s Club of Caldwell is sponsoring a student's art contest, open to all children Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade.

All students entering artwork are automatically included in a free drawing for art supplies. The drawing will take place at 2:00pm at the student exhibit on the day of the show. Student must be present to win. Ribbons will be given to First, Second and Third Place winners. The winners will be announced by 2:30pm on the day of the show. First, Second and Third Place winning student artwork will be displayed in the Caldwell Public Library from June 1 to June 12.
